Insight Eye Care provides the full scope of eye care services you need to keep your vision health at its peak. We offer comprehensive, partial, and emergency exams.
Regular eye examinations are critical in allowing your optometrist to diagnose and prevent the progression of common eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, vitreous/retinal detachments and vascular disease.

Insight Eye Care offers comprehensive exams that measure visual acuity, determine if you need prescription glasses, assess how well your eyes work together, test for common eye issues and evaluate the health of your eye. This in-depth assessment is not only critical to your ocular health but to your overall health.
With tools like non-invasive Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), our team can diagnose, monitor and treat common eye conditions and retinal diseases. We recommend OCT as part of a routine eye exam so our team has up-to-date images and can establish a baseline to monitor your eye health over time.

Contact us to schedule a problem-specific exam if you are experiencing issues that may include (but are not limited to) infections, red eyes, allergies, dry eyes, injuries, floaters/flashes, headaches, blurred vision, contact lens complications or prescription eyewear difficulties.
Your optometrist will conduct tests specific to the problem(s) you are experiencing and determine the best course of action based on your history.

Technology
At Insight Eye Care, we use the latest state-of-the-art technology during your eye exam. This helps your optometrist monitor your eye health more precisely and aids in disease prevention and treatment.
OCT and Digital Retinal Imaging
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive test that uses light to produce a 3D model of the back of your eye (the retina). The OCT machine creates a high-resolution cross-sectional (layer-by-layer) depiction of the back of your eye. Digital retinal imaging produces a high-quality photograph of the back of your eye.

Your optometrist uses an OCT scan and digital retinal imaging in the early detection of ocular health concerns. For example, OCT images help your optometrist detect, monitor and treat glaucoma, vascular disease, macular degeneration and various other retinal diseases. Regular eye exams and preventative education can help keep health problems from developing including heart disease and stroke.
Visual Field Testing
A visual field test measures the size and sensitivity of your side, or peripheral, vision. It can help detect certain patterns of vision loss that occur when an eye disease is present. At all times during the test, you will have one of our staff members available to support you through the process.

Visual field testing helps an optometrist detect underlying health conditions and visual impairments. For example, this test helps detect vision changes caused by nerve damage from glaucoma, brain tumours, strokes or certain other neurological conditions.

Our Space
Our space is well-lit and easy to navigate. The office is a modernized heritage building in UpTown Waterloo. This makes it a short walk from the Barrel Yards, Seagram Lofts, and Circa1877. It’s footsteps away from Princess Cafe and Seven Shores Cafe, so you can even grab lunch after your appointment! We also offer free, onsite parking.
